New cover design for Portraits by paper2pencil New cover design for Portraits by paper2pencil
Here is a new look for the cover of my book on Portraits, minus a few adjustments it will need before it's ready to use. The black and white drawings were getting lost on the previous design

And yes, we all know .. we do judge a book by its cover.

I need a quote under Kevin's portrait. Something related to that drawing and will attract people to buy the book. If I use your quote, you get credit for the quote and your name placed on the back cover.

If not that, perhaps a testimony review from this who have read the first book? Which can be found displayed locally at Russo's Books at The Marketplace, or can be ordered at any major bookseller such as Barnes and Nobles, Amazon.com or directly from my web site.

NOTE: Updated design as of 01/10/10. Thanks everyone for your comments and support.

All that it needs now is a better photo of me, or perhaps no photo at all?

As you can see, this is vol. 1, so I will use the same look and layout for the book on the male figure and if the is enough support, one of the female figure.

And support means sales, but just kind words. LOL

Hey!
I just found this over Moneshine's profile, she is showing it on her journal. I think this book cover is definitely beautiful, it made quite the impression on me. Especially the front cover. While at first I had the same thought as some of the others, that a young face would make for a better first impression, in afterthought I think that the cover as it is definitely calls for more attention. There are quite a few books about art, aren't there, and most of them show something beautiful on the front, so this one falls out of the norm. It compells to take a second look and then one will probably see the certain beauty in the old face with a whole life full of experiences. And how much more of a challenge it is to capture something like this rather than pure beauty. At least that is my opinion.

When I looked at the portrait of Kevin, the first thing I thought was that he definitly is a attractive man, but then I found that I was always drawn back to the eyes, like they were kind of the magnetic center of the picture (yeah, I'm big on the second looks).
They make the impression of hooks, you know, like they are daring you to open this book, drawing you in. It's real beautiful (here I can say it: man, you draw like the devil!). So, if you still need a qoute, I thought I just try what were my first thoughts:

You find me attractive? What do you see?
There's more than the outside. Come and look inside me.

It's probably a bit cheesy. I don't know. I just thought I would suggest it. It refers to the book and to the drawing, I guess.

Well anyway, that's it for now.
Bye

Thanks for writing and I agree about the drawing of Kevin, which took first place and BEST IN SHOW at a recent art show.

As for Nonna (the old woman) on the cover. I feel she is perfect. Not all drawings need to be or should be created to meet the standards of societies view on beauty. There should never be an age limit to beauty. Just look into her eyes and you will see I am right

Again, thanks!

Wow... thanks! I agree 1000%!!! Yes I will keep the portrait of Nona.... I had no intention to remove her from the cover. And as for Kevin in the back... yes, the eyes are what attracts most people to the drawing. I does set an invitation to look more into the book.

A more suitable quote would be what you wrote in the body of your message here. A testimony!

Thanks!
David

I'm very glad that you see sense in my comment. It always make's me happy to know that I don't interpret total rubbish in things I see because practically my whole life bases on interpreting.

Anyway, without wanting to be presumptuous, you can gladly use whatever you may chose from my previous comment as possible qoute. I would be, quite frankly, more than honored. But that's all up to you, of course.
